Areas of Learning

The Foundation Stage is split into two groups, Lower and Upper Foundation Stage (nursery and reception). All children have the opportunity to mix with each other at most times during the day. We have four areas within the setting; our nursery area, reception area, cloakroom and the outdoor learning environment.

Nursery

This is the area where we have construction, role play, play dough, reading, maths and mark making area. This is situated in the nursery part of the building. This is also the area where the nursery children have group time, sing songs, take the register and have their snack and milk.

Cloakroom

The cloakroom is situated between nursery and reception, in here the children take part in lots of noisy activities. This area also has the wet sand and water areas; the stage with musical instruments and woodwork bench.

Reception

In this area of the Foundation stage the children have the opportunity to work in the creative area which includes painting, model making, cooking and crafts. There is also another very inviting reading, maths and investigation area along with a writing space.

Outdoor Learning Environment

We are proud of the collections in the outdoor space, we have excellent outdoor facilities which give the children the opportunity to widen their learning experiences. From water play to large construction, to writing to sport the children thrive in this environment. The outdoor learning environment is used during dry and wet days, it is a real pleasure to see the children splashing about in the puddles on rainy days. For children to really enjoy all this area has to offer we ask all children to bring a pair of wellies to keep at school.
